MODERATOR
Mitch Hefter, LC, Fellow USITT, is a Senior Systems Engineer with Signify and has been working on Codes and Standards for over 40 years. He has contributed to several IES documents and is currently the chair of the IES Lighting Control Systems committee. Mitch is a founding member of the Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA) Technical Standards Program, where he co-chairs the Electrical Power Working Group and is a member of the Control Protocols and Photometrics Working Groups. Mitch was instrumental in the development of USITT DMX512 in 1986 and chairs the ESTA E1.11 USITT DMX515 A Task Group. Mitch has worked on updates to the National Electrical Code since 1981 and has been representing IES on Code Panel 15 since 1997. He was appointed the USITT Alternate on Code Panel 13 in 2022.
PRESENTERS
Casey Diers has created lighting for hundreds of architectural spaces and interactive environments, as well as live performance, film, and television. He serves as lighting controls designer for Morlights complex and varied projects. His reputation for meticulous attention to detail, combined with his knowledge of both the art and science of light, make him a relentless advocate for great lighting. Casey has a degree in Lighting Design from The Theatre School at DePaul University. He is a member of the Illuminati on Engineering Society, the United States Institute of Theatre Technology, and holds a Certified Lighting Controls Professional certification from the International Association of Lighting Management. Casey has contributed to industry standards via the ESTA Technical Standards Program and the IES Standards program and sits on the IES Lighting Control System Committee.
Michael Myer is a father, husband, and cat wrangler – when not tied up with those activities, he works for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy lab. At PNNL Michael supports Appliance Standards, energy codes, and market transformation of new technologies. Michael continues to support lighting moving into the next age of technology being digital technologies.
Bill Ellis is the President and Co-Founder of Candela Controls, Inc., a lighting systems integrator/specialty contractor located in Winter Garden, FL. Founded in 1999, Candela Controls, Inc. has completed over 600 projects to date in 32 states and 5 Countries. Projects include work in the Gaming, Large Hospitality, Theme Park, Museum, Theatre industries, and other unusual projects. Bill has presented at several LightFair International conferences, and for IESNA, PLASA, and ESTA on a range of lighting control topics, including Advance Control Solutions, the use of DMX512, RDM, sACN, DALI, and PoE integrations.
Carol Jones has been a visible, published and active leader in the transformation of the lighting industry for 3+ decades. She has long been at the forefront of bringing higher value digital lighting into reality and is enthusiastic about how it will change our world for the better.
Carol has been tangibly involved in the role of lighting within the Internet of Things, working to create a deeper understanding of how lighting can enable high value use cases for owners and users, without sacrificing lighting quality and controls intent. Her wide experience includes lighting design, product and system innovation, standards development, customer insights, strategic business development and research. Previous affiliations include Axis Lighting, Enlighted, Philips, PNNL, and HLB Lighting Design.
