In Case You Missed It: Inside the Lighting Design of PENN 2
A group of more than 25 lighting professionals joined the IESNYC for an exclusive architectural lighting tour of PENN 2, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at one of New York City's most significant redevelopment projects.
Hosted in partnership with Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design (CBB), the evening gave attendees the opportunity to experience the reimagined building firsthand while learning how lighting helped shape its transformation—from the striking LED installation beneath The Bustle to the rooftop park overlooking Midtown Manhattan.
A special thank you to Francesca Bettridge, Michael Hennes, and Nira Wattanachote, who shared valuable insights into the project's design vision, creative process, and the collaborative thinking behind the lighting design. Their perspectives offered attendees a deeper understanding of the role lighting plays in shaping architecture and the experience of a space.
Following the tour, the conversation continued over drinks and appetizers at The Irish Exit—another CBB project in Moynihan Train Hall—where attendees exchanged ideas, asked questions, and connected with fellow members of the NYC lighting community.
Thank you to Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design, Vornado Realty Trust, and everyone who joined us for an evening of learning, professional exchange, and community. Events like these continue to showcase the power of sharing knowledge and bringing the NYC lighting community together.
