Parsons Paris: Spring Curatorial Lighting Design Intensive

Learn lighting in the City of Light! Please join us for a week-long lighting intensive course on curatorial lighting delivered by the Parsons Lighting Design Program at our Parsons Paris campus. Spend a week in beautiful springtime Paris exploring lighting design for museums and galleries, including field visits to famous museums and hands-on work in a campus gallery space. Learn about design criteria and special design considerations for museums and galleries, including conservation criteria for artwork. Explore beam angles and intensities, spectral power distributions and color metrics of a variety of light sources; measure illuminance and luminance and study how to create focal points, while delivering adequate light for circulation. Explore the daylighting of Monet’s waterlilies and the lighting of Rodin’s sculptures through field visits. All of this and more in the atelier environment of the Parsons Paris studio.

Who Should Enroll
Practicing professionals including lighting designers, architects, interior designers, museum and gallery lighting specialists, and others wishing to learn more about lighting museum, gallery, and exhibit spaces are welcome to enroll in this program. Students and educators from various disciplines are also welcome.

Tuition: $3,500
Not included in the tuition fee: Airfare to and from Paris, housing, local travel and transportation, meals, entrance fees, class supplies, living and personal expenses beyond housing, insurance, and medical expenses
The program administrator will notify students when to book flights. Students book their own flights and housing accommodations to align with the program dates.
