Peter Jacobson Appreciation Day
On May 20, 2021, at a meeting of the Board of Managers, Mike Barr, president of the IESNYC, presented Peter Jacobson, most recently the IESNYC’s vice president, with the Presidential Proclamation. “I proclaim today as Peter Jacobson Appreciation Day and I encourage all IESNYC members to recognize Pete as an IESNYC Section Champion,” says Barr.
Peter Jacobson is a true and dedicated member of the IES for more than 25 years. He promoted technological innovation in the lighting industry through his long service to the IES Progress Committee.
Peter is an exemplary leader, demonstrated by skilled services on the New York City Section Board of Managers for more than two decades. His wisdom and institutional memory have aided perhaps a dozen IESNYC presidents. In 2014 he was named Member of the Year for exceptional hard work to tirelessly support the section’s efforts. Prior, he earned the 2011 IESNYC Meritorious Award and the 2004 IESNYC Section Service Award.
Keeping an eye to the future of the lighting industry, Peter served the Richard Kelly Grant Committee, the Scholarship Committee, and the Nominations & Awards Committee. His assistance as the IESNYC Section representative to the Building Energy Exchange promoted lighting as integral to a sustainable future defined by a radical transformation of the built environment.
Though recently retired from Con Edison and from the Board, Pete will continue to be a source of wisdom to Managers who seek his advice. “Receiving this Proclamation and serving the Board and all of our lighting community members is a great honor," says Jacobson.
Pete is the fourth recipient of the Presidential Proclamation. Past recipients are Megan Carroll, Rinkinson Gohel, and Brigid Hardiman.
